There are several types of fabric crayons to pick from. One brand is Crayola Fabric Crayons box of 8 , they are a quick, easy, and colorful way to transfer your own designs permanently to synthetic fabrics. Draw a design on non-glossy paper. Then transfer to cloth with heat from an iron. The colors transfer brilliantly. Used with creative techniques by students of all ages. Fabric crayon colors: magenta, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, burnt sienna, black. Be sure to follow the instructions that come with the brand of fabric crayons you decide to purchase for use on Craft Color Me’s Transfers.

Below are some basic instructions for how to do Craft “Color Me’s” Transfers. The purpose is to give you an “idea” of how they work. These are only very general instructions because the instructions for the actual product you purchase may be different.

The image you select has already been “reversed” to make it a suitable transfer. All you have to do is print it on a plain white, uncoated (non-glossy) 8 1/2 x 11 computer paper or whatever paper is recommended by the instructions that come with your fabric crayons. 1. Click the “Free To Print” link under image (picture) you wish to print. The picture will open in a new window as either a jpg image file or Adobe reader. It usually opens as a jpg file.

2. If the Craft Color Me’s Transfer opens as a jpg image file, you need to right click on the image and “Save Picture As” to a folder on your desktop. If file is an Adobe Reader file, you will only need to click the print button and skip to step 4. See Adobe Reader Tutor for help.

3. If the Craft Color Me’s Transfer is jpg image file, go to folder where you saved the image and double click the image file to open the Craft Color Me’s Transfer. Set your printer to print landscape and the file will print as an 10 x 8 unless you resize the image to fit small children’s clothing or change the printer setting to print a different size.

4. Color the picture with Fabric Crayons. Remember to color “ HEAVY” for better transferring color to cloth.

5. Make an ironing pad. Place thick pad of newspapers and cover with white paper. I covered the with computer paper.

6. Place a piece of white paper (I used computer paper) between the front and back of shirt or whatever item you are transferring onto. This will stop bleed-through to the back of the shirt or other item (or onto the pad on your ironing pad).

7. (optional) Smooth section where you are going to iron if needed and let cool.

8. Heat iron according to the instructions for your fabric crayons.  (Most likely cotton setting)

9. Place drawing colored side down on cloth or clothing. Remember drawing looks reversed on the paper.

10. Iron as instructed by the instructions for your fabric crayons.  Transfers happens VERY Quickly.

11. Iron till you see image is visible through back of paper.

12. Remove Craft Color Me’s Transfer as instructed for your fabric crayons. Allow the shirt to cool. Follow all other instructions that come with your fabric crayons for handling and washing. (My Fabric Crayons instructions says machine wash warm gentle cycle. Do Not place in dryer)   ----  For size of design idea, this is a men x-large shirt.

REMINDER:  It is very important that you follow the instructions that come with your fabric crayons. These are just general instructions to give you an idea about how the process works.
