With all of the choices in baby products and the new inventions of super absorbent chemically made diapers, cloth diapers have made their stand in the baby world.  From pin-less cloth diapers, cloth diaper covers, and comfy fit cloth diapers; more and more parents have decided to choose naturally cloth material over anything else.

Why are cloth diapers so popular?

The new cloth diapers are totally different from the products of the past years.  The development of these diapers have improved so dramatically that many parents have decided they do not want their baby in a hot disposable diaper all day and night.  The amount of liquid and mixture of heat causes diaper rash which can become a very serious problem for both mother and baby. The main ingredient in a disposable diaper is sodium polyacrylate which helps turn the liquid into gel to prevent leakage.  Due to this synthetic material, many illnesses such as urinary track infections and toxic shock syndrome can occur.

In the past, cloth diapers were not as convenient to take along or change in public but today’s products allow for this.  Besides the money you will save by washing the diapers in your home laundry machine, you will never run out of diapers again!  There is even a disposable diaper bag which can be taken along with you and fits in your normal sized diaper bag.  This allows for easy storage.  Most babies go through 10 – 15 diapers per day so many parents will have 40 - 50 cloth diapers to use in rotation.  Besides the cloth diapers, parents will need to get a few diaper covers and washable liners as well.  With the amount of 40 cloth diapers, the launder of the diapers can be every 2 – 3 days.

The old way of fastening cloth diapers was with a pin, but today’s versions offer Velcro or hook fasteners.  If you miss closing the diaper with pins, you can still find some companies which produce them but most parents are not as comfortable with this version.

The washable liners are a must when using cloth diapers.  They help prevent stains and give added protection from leaks.  Many parents use these liners for bedtime.  Diaper covers are placed over the diaper to keep the diaper snug and the baby dry.  Since the material is breathable, there is a less likely chance that an infection can occur, such as diaper rash.  There are many colors to choose from or you can take the typical pink for girls and blue for boys.

Parents who have chose to use cloth diapers also have decided to use reusable washable wipes.  Again, this comes down to preference but they are free from chemicals and can be washed at the same time as cloth diapers.

Although it is very easy to take the cloth diapers and throw them into the laundry machine, some parents use the diaper pail method before laundering.  The soaking is used to disinfect the diapers and a large group of diapers can be done at once.  The diaper duck is another product which allows the soaking to occur right in the toilet.  This brings convenience to the parent and less clean up.

More and more baby companies are producing their version of cloth diapers. With the convenience and affordability of cloth baby products, parents will begin to see their use increase.  Due to parents concerns about harmful chemicals causing childhood illnesses, going natural is an ever growing trend.

Baby Best Buy has been providing quality baby products, including baby bedding sets, cloth diapers, potty training equipment, and more, at discounted prices for many years.  This company is able to offer such low prices because they purchase their inventory end-of-the-line direct from manufacturers, thus eliminating the middle-man.
